Sam's Story

Sam was the kind of man who left an impression on everyone he met, through his quiet strength, boundless compassion, and an ever present smile that could light up even the hardest days.

Sam dedicated his life to serving others. As a firefighter with the Casnovia Fire Department and a Paramedic Supervisor at Rockford Ambulance, he showed courage, selflessness, and devotion every single day. Whether running into danger to save a life or mentoring new paramedics with patience and humor. Sam embodied what it meant to truly serve his community.

But beyond the uniform, Sam was a husband, a son, a friend, and the heart of his home. He met the love of his life Morgan, in 2019, and from that moment, the two were inseparable. Their love was built on laughter, late night talks, and unwavering support for each other's dreams. In August 2024, surrounded by the people who meant the most to them, Sam and Morgan were married, beginning the beautiful next chapter of their lives together. They were filled with hope and excitement, planning to start a family and build the future they had always dreamed of.

Tragically, Sam's life was cut short in a car accident on June 24, 2025. Though his time here was far too brief, he filled every moment with meaning, love, and light.

When he wasn't working, Sam could often be found with Morgan and their beloved dog, Hudson. He cherished spending time with family and friends, especially during late winter and early spring when his family gathered to make maple syrup, a tradition that brought everyone together and that he loved deeply.

Sam found joy in life's simply pleasures: A black cup of coffee at sunrise before a long shift, an old-fashioned cocktail shared in the quiet of the evening, and the smell of something slow-cooking on the smoker. He had a soft spot for Disney movies, a big heart for the people he loved, and a laugh that came easily.

You would never see Sam without a smile on his face and his heart on his sleeve. He lived every day with purpose and kindness, touching countless lives along the way. His legacy lives on in the stories he leaves behind, the people he helped, and the love he shared so freely.

Sam will forever be remembered for his selflessness, warmth, and the way he made every person feel seen, valued, and loved.

Meet the Team

Hi! I'm Morgan, the owner of Code Brew Coffee.

Owning a coffee business has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember. While coffee is what brings us together, the heart behind Code Brew is so much deeper than what's in your cup.

Outside of starting Code Brew, I work as an Emergency Room nurse. My husband Sam, also dedicated his life to emergency medicine. We both loved serving others, and like so many healthcare workers, coffee became a daily staple that carried us through long shifts, sleepless nights, and some of life's most challenging moments.

After Sam passed away, my dream took on a new purpose. Code Brew was created not only to serve great coffee but to honor his life and continue the legacy of serving others. Our mobile coffee truck allows me to take that mission wherever I go; bringing people together, creating moments of connection, and serving each customer with kindness and intention.

My hope is that every person who visits Code Brew has a positive experience. More than just a great cup of coffee, I want you to feel welcomed, loved, and safe. I pray that the love of Jesus shines through every interaction and that each visit is a reminder to slow down, cherish the life you've been given, and find joy in the little moments.

When I'm not serving coffee, you'll usually find me reading a good book, playing with my dog, Hudson, spending time with family and friends, traveling, talking about Sam, or simply soaking in all that life has to offer. Losing Sam taught me that every day is a gift, and I strive to live each one with gratitude and purpose.

Serving my community has always been close to my heart because tha'ts what Jesus did. Sam spent his life serving others in countless ways, and Code Brew is one way I hope to carry that spirit forward. Whether we're parked at a local event, celebrating with you at a wedding, serving your workplace, or simply making your morning a little brighter, my goal is the same. To share kindenss, create community, and remind people that they are seen, valued, and loved.

Hi, I'm Emily, co-owner of Code Brew Coffee.

By day, I'm a surgical technician, where I have the privilege of caring for people during some of the most important moments of their lives. Serving others has always been close to my heart, and that's one of the many reasons I'm so grateful to be part of Code Brew.

For me, Code Brew is about so much more than coffee. It's about creating a welcoming place wherever our ambulance goes; a place where people can slow down, share a smile, and leave feeling a little happier than when they arrived. I hope every customer feels seen, valued, and genuinely cared for from the moment they walk up to our window.

When I'm not at work or serving coffee, you'll usually find me spending time with my fiancé, making memories with family and friends, or tending to my garden. I love the simple joys in life and believe that the best moments are often the ones shared with the people we love.

Being able to build Code Brew alongside my sister is a blessing I don't take for granted. together, we're carrying forward a mission rooted in faith, compassion, and service. We hope every cup we serve reflects the love of Jesus and reminds people that kindness, even in the smallest ways, can make a lasting impact.
